Self before others or others before self?

Someone told me that others before self is another way of doing something for yourself. You'll find it more worthwhile to yourself when you do something for others, if the 'others' are priceless to you. You'll be more than happy for the ones you love and for your own good.

I know how you feel, but I won't let you go.
